Climate network for municipalities in the Öresund region – “KlimaSundet”
“KlimaSundet” is a climate network connecting municipalities in Denmark and Sweden in the Öresund region. Many municipalities on both sides of Öresund are outstanding in developing new projects for climate mitigation and adaptation, but often they are not paying much attention to experiences from other municipalities especially not across the Öresund sea border.
“KlimaSundet” will break down mental and language barriers and create a platform for knowledge and experience sharing on climate matters. In 2012, “KlimaSundet” expects to organize an international conference showing the best climate projects from the municipalities in the region. In many ways Öresund municipalities are at the forefront of the climate frontier, and by making this meeting place – “KlimaSundet” – a reality, the gearing of non-fossil transformation in the region is expected to go up.
“KlimaSundet” will organize nine workshops in 2011 and 2012. Each workshop will highlight one climate topic. Best practices from the Öresund municipalities will be presented as a central part of each workshop.
The issues to be dealt with in the nine workshops are:
3 February 2011: Strategic energy planning in municipalities. How can municipalities be fossil free?
13 May 2011: Politics and Planning for Green Procurement. A difficult matter, but for some municipalities almost ‘standard practice’.
25-26 August 2011: Eco City. We shall see climate project in Elsinore and Helsingborg.
20 September 2011: Climate Adaptation. Heavy rain and water management have in some municipalities been addressed properly. Interesting projects will be communicated in Kristiansstad, where we shall see Naturum.
December 2011: Climate Communication. How can we make other parts of the municipal administration – and companies and the general public as well, take a climate perspective on everyday life? .
January 2012: Green Funding and Financing. Some municipalities have good experiences when it comes to funding.
May 2012: Renewable Energy. We shall hear exciting experiences from the municipalities
August 2012: Open theme
Autumn 2012: International conference
It’s free to join “KlimaSundet”. The network is financed by the EU Interreg funding. “KlimaSundet” is co-financed by Helsingřr municipality (Denmark), Helsingborg municipality (Sweden) and Aalborg University, Campus Copenhagen (Denmark).
